It's time for August Angels...

Just a reminder that again this summer Koinonia will be providing school backpacks for the needy children of our area filled with school supplies.  Click on the link to download a print copy of the supplies we will be putting into the backpacks (August Angels Supply List).  We invite you to either purchase school supplies on this list, or make a financial contribution which we can use to round out the supplies that we receive.  Many have found that it is a great family activity - take the entire family, buy a backpack, and fill it with supplies!  It gives the children a great visual of the kind of things that other children may not have that they take for granted.  So we encourage not only the adults, but your families to participate!

The supplies can be dropped off at the Koinonia office, 6037 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA 22310 (behind the Franconia United Methodist Church) or a contribution can be mailed to our PO Box 30878, Alexandria, VA 22310 (indicate that it is for August Angels).  The office is open Monday – Wednesday & Friday  9:00am – 12:30pm, Thursday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9:00am to 12:30pm.  The donations / contributions need to be delivered to the office by August 8th.  The backpack distribution will be made on August 11th.

Looking for a volunteer opportunity?  We need help sorting and packing the backpacks on August 10th (12-5pm), and distributing them on August 11th (9:30 - 12:30pm or 12:30-3pm).  Please contact Judy Davis at judy.koinonia@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer.

If you have any questions, please reply to this email or call Koinonia at (703) 971-1991.

And, Food Pantry Needs...

Also, since kids are out for the summer and don’t have access to the free/reduced lunch program, we are looking for some extra food supplies to supplement them during the summer.  Here is a link to the current needs in our food pantry:  FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
